SANY Newsletter 6: SANY v1 demonstration events

Dear reader,

SANY treesThis autumn, SANY consortium will organize three public demonstrations of the project results. All three events are open to all participants interested in environmental monitoring, and free of charge within a limit of available places. Please read on for more information and instructions for registration.

This newsletter includes:

  • About SANY demonstration events
  • Sept. 24th 2008: SP5 demonstration
  • Oct. 6th-8th 2008: SP6 demonstration
  • Nov. 4th 2008: SP4 demonstration

About SANY demonstration events

The SANY integrated project focuses on interoperability, architecture, and generic services for in-situ sensors and sensor networks. Three "validation sub projects" (SP4, SP5, SP6) demonstrate the usability of SANY results through services prototypes for GMES end users in different application domains.

This autumn, the SANY consortium will demonstrate the results of the second development cycle (v1) through three public demonstrations dedicated to "air quality", "marine risks" and "urban geo hazards". SANY demonstrations primarily target the decision makers and end users of environmental monitoring systems.

Sept. 24th 2008: SP5 demonstration

SANY SP5 pilotThe v1 Marine risks sub project demonstration will concentrate on the progress of the "bathing water" application. This application uses the SensorSA infrastructure and advanced fusion technology to predict the bathing water quality on a pilot site in Poland.

This time, the SP5 demonstration will be organized as a side-event of the "Marine Environmental Risk Management" in Southampton. Marine Environmental Risk Management workshop intends to showcase the state of the art and emerging capabilities in Marine Environmental Risk Management and to highlight opportunities for the development of future applications.

Oct. 6th-8th 2008: SP6 demo

SANY SP6 pilotThe v1 Geo Hazards sub project demonstration will concentrate on the progress of the "urban geo hazards monitoring" application. This application uses the SensorSA infrastructure and ad-hoc sensor networks for monitoring and settlement prediction in the cities of Barcelona, Budapest and Toulon.

The Geo Hazards sub project demonstration will be attached to AFTES congress of the French Tunnel and Underground structures association in Monaco, France. SolData intends to organize two public demonstrations, one in French and the second one in English. The agenda for the two demonstrations will be disseminated later. No registration for this event is currently foreseen.

Nov. 4th 2008: SP4 demo

SANY SP4 pilotThe v1 Air Quality sub project demonstration will concentrate on the progress of the "data quality control" application. This application uses the SensorSA infrastructure and advanced data fusion technology to aid the quality assurance process in the Upper Austria region by annotating the "suspicious" data.

The Air Quality sub project demonstration will be organized as a stand alone event on ARC premises in Vienna, Austria. In addition to showing the use of SANY results in Air quality domain, this event will be used to present the cascading SOS and SensorSA compliant Data Acquisition System. The SP4 demonstration will be organized in German, and early registration is highly recommended.

Other SANY related events

In addition to demonstration events, SANY consortium will organize a training on use of SANY result in the Earth Observation context in October 2008, another training on use of SensorSA software in February 2009, and a networking session on ICT 2008.

Finally, SANY partners also participate on numerous conferences, including e.g. the ENVIROINFO 2008, PIMRC 2008, and "Sensing the Changing World" workshop.
