SANY Newsletter 4: SANY at OGC TC meeting and “Interoperability day” in Potsdam.Dear reader,
SANY and OSIRIS at OGC TC meeting in Potsdam SP5 demonstration and training event in Sopot About SANY newsletter The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc (OGC) is an international industry consortium of 364 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface specifications. OpenGIS® Specifications support interoperable solutions that "geo-enable" the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT. The OGC membership process is operationally organized into groups and subgroups, each group having a specified role and level of responsibility. There are three major groups, called Committees: The Technical, the Planning and the Strategic Management Advisory Committees. The Technical Committee is responsible for all aspects of the formal consensus OGC specification process and provides an open forum for professional discussion of issues and items related to the consensus development and/or evaluation and approval of OpenGIS specifications. SANY and OSIRIS at OGC TC meeting in Potsdam (2-6 June 2008) SANY has strong interest in OGC standardization, and actively participates in several OGC working groups. This OGC TC meeting is of particular interest for SANY, as is allows technical discussion on v1 of the SANY architecture and services. SANY contributions to OGC TC meeting in Potsdam include:
"Access Control for Sensor Services" by Sascha Schlobinski, EIG (03/06/2008, Security DWG) ”Sensor networks Interoperability” by Denis Havlik, ARC (03/06/2008, “Interoperability day”) ”Fusion and Decision Support” by Patrick Jacques, SPB (03/06/2008, “Interoperability day”) ”SANY Semantic Catalogue” by Desiree Hilbring, IITB (03/06/2008, “Interoperability day”) ”Data Acquisition with SWE” by Michai Bartha, ARC (03/06/2008, “Interoperability day”) Introduction to SWE by Ingo Simonis, OGCE (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) ”SWE Architecture IPR” by Ingo Simonis, OGCE (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) “SOS cascading” vision & current implementation status by Thomas Bleier, ARC; (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) “Plug and measure with SWE” by Michai Bartha, ARC (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) ”SPS issues” by Ingo Simonis, OGCE (04/06/2008, SPS DWG) In addition, OGC TC events offer a great opportunity for technical discussion with our "sister" project, the OSIRIS IP. With this in mind, the two consortia decided to discuss following topics: security of sensor networks; dynamic networks, and sensor discovery. Related OSIRIS presentations on OGC TC meeting in Potsdam include:
"Securing the Access to SOS instances" (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) "Sensor Discovery" with OSIRIS Sensor Observable Registry (04/06/2008, SWE DWG) LINK: June '08 OGC Technical Committee Meeting agenda SP5 demonstration and training event (June 11 2008, Sopot/Pl)
The second public demonstration of SANY results shall be organised by BMT in Sopot/Poland, with aim to show results of the SANY “baseline implementation” in the context of marine risks sub-project (SP5). The intention of this meeting is to show how SANY software can be used to forecast bathing water quality and discuss the direction of the SANY project with all interested parties. In addition, BMT shall organise a hands-on training for potential users of the bathing water quality forecast application. Note: The event will be held in Polish. Participation is free of charge, within a limit of available places (first come - first served). Please follow the link below for more details. SANY newsletter is the main external communication medium of the SANY project. Its aim is to inform the decision makers, fellow researches, producers and users of environmental information systems and all other people interested in the subject of environmental monitoring on the progress of the project and on events organised by the SANY consortium.
