SANY newsletter 2: First year resultsDear reader,
OGC/SANY Memorandum of Understanding We have a pleasure to inform you that SANY IP and OGC formally acknowledged their mutual interest in developing and promoting the open standards applicable to environmental monitoring networks by signing a “Memorandum of Understanding”. This MoU is a logical consequence of the common interest in interoperability and good working relationship between SANY and OGC. Under the terms of the MoU, OGC will grant an Associated OGC Membership to SANY consortium. This sign of appreciation for the work done by SANY so far, will greatly improve the visibility of SANY within OGC and assure clean distinction between views and interests of the SANY Consortium and those of the participating organisations Unsurprisingly, the most interesting upcoming SANY events are closely related to standardization. This week, the SANY IP shall be presented on GEO-IV and Ministerial Summit in South Africa. Next week is our first “Annual technical review”, followed by OGC TC meeting in Italy.
The Summit will allow to:
Bring emerging priorities to the attention of the Ministers; Engage the commitment of Ministers to endorse The Declaration of Cape Town SANY IP has been invited to this event as a representative of the EC. SANY representatives will be available at the EC booth for exhibitions and will present SANY Video and Poster. All EU-funded research projects are reviewed by independent experts once a year. SANY team is looking forward to this event, for two reasons:
Second, the SANY Consortium has proposed changes in project plan that (if accepted) may result in much stronger visibility of the SANY IP in the next two years. Some of you may still remember the workshop on “marine sensing, sensor networks and monitoring” (Southampton/UK) and “SANY/OGC SWE training” held in Munster earlier this year. If everything goes well, SANY shall organise some more workshops, demonstrations and training events in 2008 and 2009! LINK: SANY/OGC SWE training results December 2007 OGC TC meeting shall be held in Italy. This occasion has been seized by both SANY and ORCHESTRA:
ORCHESTRA IP shall organise a whole day “ORCHESTRA Interoperability day”. This is one of two final ORCHESTRA events. Please visit the SANY-IP web site for more detailed information on SANY-related news and event announcements. Sensors Anywhere Integrated Project (SANY IP) is an FP6 Integrated Project (contract number 0033564) co-funded by the Information Society and Media DG of the European Commission within the RTD activities of the Thematic Priority Information Society Technologies. SANY newsletter is the main external communication medium of the SANY project. Its aim is to inform the decision makers, fellow researches, producers and users of environmental information systems and all other people interested in the subject of environmental monitoring on the progress of the project and on events organised by the SANY consortium. SANY newsletters are archived on the SANY web-page: |
